1. Create a Budget
When it comes to building your budget there are a couple of factoers you will need to consider. Materials, furnishings & labour can differ significantly depending on what you choose and your timelines. The size of the bathroom and layout will also affect the cost of your project. Defining your budget before you begin will help ensure that stick within your budget. Here at Brian Pyne Tiles we provide a free quotation with no obligation to buy.
2. Consider the Purpose
What is the purpose of the bathroom you are re-modelling? Who will be using it? Depending on who will be using the space you may need different things from the room.
Are you looking to future-proof your bathroom as your family gets older? Then maybe consider removing a bath and replace it with a walk-in shower.
3. Decide on the Layout
Do you want to stick with the existing layout of your bathroom or do you want to move things around to make the space more functional?
Remember that changing the layout can cause the cost to increase as you may need to move plumbing and/or electrics. Be sure to talk to your plumber, tiler & electrician if you plan on making changes. Once you've decided on a layout stick to it and remember if your current layout works well you don't have to change it.
4. Know your Measurements
Arguably the most important step in your bathroom remodel. Your measurements will guide your budget. You don't want to be left short on tiles and only realise when you are half way through tiling. Once you have the measurements we can help put together a quote.
5. Pick a Theme
Is there a particular theme or look you are trying to achieve with your bathroom?
Maybe you are looking to match your new design to an existing piece you own or to the style of your home.
Do you like glossy or matt finishes?
Do you want to add colour or texture?
Have a browse online and see what style of bathroom you want to go for.

6. Furniture
When it comes to bathroom furniture there are so many options to choose from. Depending on the size & style of your bathroom it's important to think about the type of furniture that will work best for the space you have. For example, if space is tight then wall hung vanity units can help give back space while also creating a minimalist look. Remember if you are adding in wall hung units that you will need to install fixing units to support the weight so talk to your contractor on this. Or perhaps you want to go for a more traditional look and choose an elegant floor standing unit.
Bathroom furniture can be great and easy way to bring in colour and personality into a bathroom. We have a huge range of bathroom furniture available in a range of sizes here.
7. Think about Heating
Is there any better feeling than hopping out of the shower and wrapping yourself in a warm fluffy towel? Why not consider a heated towel rail that can add luxury & warmth to a bathroom.
8. Look at Lighting
When considering lighting options for your bathroom why not think about an LED mirror. Many of the mirrors we have come with warm & cool light functionality that can create a beautiful ambiance. As well as that they have heated demister pads that help to defog your mirror after a steamy shower or bath. See here for more.
9. Bring a Sample
If you are trying to colour match to something existing in your home bring a sample in with you. For example, if you are looking for tiles to match your existing bathroom furniture units then bring in a colour swatch or at least a photograph. This will help you make an informed decision on the tile you choose. Here at Brian Pyne Tiles we can provide you with a free sample to take away.
